Is the NTP Software QFS® System Dashboard (QSD™) a separate product?
No, it is functionality that is included in future versions of QFS®

What is QSD?
QSD provides point-in-time, historical, and projections of the impact of your storage policies (as managed by NTP Software QFS®) on your end-users

How does QSD help storage administrators?
QSD reveals trends and patterns of user behavior so that storage administrators can create the most effective storage policies.

What are the key features of QSD?
  • Seamlessly integrated with NTP Software QFS.
  • Displays policy transactions in easy to understand reports, graphs, and charts.
  • Monitors all the transactions and activities of NTP Software QFS.
Can I get real-time alerts?
No. Real-time alerts and corrective actions are handled by NTP Software Storage Events & Alerts Manager™ (SEAM™).

Do I have to run NTP Software QFS to use QSD?
Yes. It is NTP Software QFS that supplies the data that QSD uses.

If I use QFS today, do I have to run QSD in the future?
No. You can keep using QFS as you are today, but you will miss out on an important source of information about what’s happening in your environment.

I am an existing NTP Software QFS customer and I want to use QSD. Do I have to upgrade QFS to run QSD?
Yes. Only the new versions of QFS can supply data to QSD.

Do I have to upgrade every copy of QFS?
No. But only the copies of QFS that you have upgraded will report data to QSD. You won’t get any information about the users and storage hosts managed by the older versions.

"Organizations of all sizes are leveraging policy-based management tools to help manage and secure their storage more effectively. Given the potential impact of a data breach to a business, it is critical to recognize abnormalities and unauthorized attempts to access information in real time. NTP Software’s QSD and SEAM arm administrators with the information required to see patterns and trends, and to respond quickly to any user problems or potential security issues."
